Ultrabook Acer Aspire A515-55-59WM Specs, Price, and Reviews. 10th generation Intel processor, Wi-Fi ax, fast SSD storage, the Acer Aspire A515-55-59WM summons some interesting elements behind its black design going everywhere. Its case sports the proportions of an ultrabook and hides a 10th generation Core i5-1035G1 low consumption for surfing and working smoothly, even more with such support from RAM (8 GB) and SSD storage (512 GB), for system speed and efficiency. The Full HD screen is beneficial for moviegoers although possibly based on a TN panel (a doubt remains) and the connection is not very varied other than the precious addition of Wifi 6.
Chassis, connectors, screen of the Acer Aspire A515-55-59WM
The silhouette of the Aspire 5 does not change compared to its predecessor. Acer always dresses it in a slightly rough matte black color, quite basic. The case is shaped with plastic and a little aluminum to reinforce the rear of the cover and the base of the keys. Suddenly, it gains robustness during transport and in time.
Its format suits the circle of ultrabooks but is not the best optimized in this sense with 18 mm thick and a format 363 x 250 mm. Its weight is fixed around 1.8 kg. It is not the lightest in the segment but it is still better than the 2.2 kg of the previous Aspire 5.
It does not appear that the keyboard is backlit on this model.
In the center of this Acer Aspire A515-55-59WM also shines a beautiful Full HD mat screen with rather thin side edges (7 mm). The Full HD definition (1920 x 1080 px) offers an extended display space allowing you to fully enjoy the High Definition content (video, game) while the Confyview matte panel will prevent ambient light from being reflected on the screen. We also have a little doubt about the nature of the slab. Acer seems to communicate on an IPS panel for these models with an Ice Lake processor, but the merchants are contradictory.
The sides are equipped with a fairly standard connection with four USB ports which still include a USB 2.0, two USB 3.1 and a USB Type-C. There is also an HDMI output and a Gigabit Ethernet port while the modules make the most of the latest Wifi AX (Wifi 6) and Bluetooth 5.0. Note that the card reader has disappeared and also the fingerprint reader does not appear on the menu either.
Performance, autonomy of the Acer Aspire A515-55-59WM
The 10th generation Ice Lake processor will propel the PC into productive spheres. It is a low consumption Quad Core i5-1035G1 which gains a few points in performance over its predecessors (i5-8565U Whiskey Lake/ i5-10210U Comet Lake) due to a finer engraving (10 nm). For the most part, it fully supports current use (Web browsing, Office processing, video) and masters some more demanding applications making the most of the multicore architecture (video editing, Photoshop …). Opposite, the 8 GB RAM provides a fluid environment for multitasking.
The integrated Intel UHD G1 graphics part is comparable to an Intel UHD 620 integrated in processors of previous generations. It takes care of graphic tasks related to current use and can even support some occasional games as long as they are not too greedy.
Opposite, the storage is turned over to an M. 2 NVMe PCIe 512 GB SSD which will bring a welcome dose of responsiveness to the system. Compared to a standard mechanical hard drive, it is quieter, more robust and energy efficient and allows Windows to reach a remarkable level of fluidity with short loading times and execution without latencies. What is more, its capacity is not ridiculous and can accommodate a good portion of your toy library regardless of whether some may not find it sufficient.
Let’s finish with a notion of autonomy which gain from this declination of a 48 Whr battery. Acer announces much more than 9 hours but given the limited capacity of the battery, it is more realistic to expect a total of 6 hours in Internet browsing with active Wifi.
